SSGSH Direct

SSGSH Direct is a command line utility used to access the Sensor Seal Gateway Shell (SSGSH) of a gateway that does not have an internet connection (either purposefully or due to misconfiguration) and therefore cannot be accessed via the web-based Gateway Manager.

Using SSGSH Direct

  1. Connect the gateway to your computer directly. It should be powered via a PoE injector or the power terminals.
  2. Configure your computer to use a link-local address. If using macOS or Windows, configure it to use DHCP, and wait until an address beginning with
    169.254
    is assigned and it says
    No internet connection
    ,
    Self-assigned IP address
    or similar. On various Linux distros, you may need to manually configure a link-local address.
  3. Download and run SSGSH Direct on your computer
  4. Type
    connect
    and press enter to attempt to connect to the gateway.
  5. If successful, a message indicating this will be shown as well as the shell prompt, e.g.
