v1.1

The Sensor Seal Gateway v1.1 is a robust, low-power IoT gateway designed for seamless integration with Sensor Seal S1 equipped rollers. Features a high-performance 150-960 MHz sub-GHz radio, Ethernet and flexible power options including passive PoE (12V-57VDC) or screw terminals (12V-48VDC) at less than 5 W of power. Housed in a NEMA 4X-rated, UV-stable polycarbonate enclosure.

Power Input

The Sensor Seal Gateway v1.1 can be powered either by passive Power over Ethernet (PoE) or via the screw terminals labelled "+" and "-". Refer to Powering Gateways for more information.
Power Source Min. Input Voltage Max. Input Voltage Nominal Power Consumption
PoE 12 V 57 V < 5 W
Screw Terminals 12 V 48 V < 5 W
Exceeding the maximum input voltage may permanently damage the gateway.

Ethernet

The gateway contains an internal female RJ-45 Ethernet port used for data (and power if using PoE).
Feature Description
Standard 10BASE-T
Auto MDI/MDI-X Support None. Fixed as MDI
PoE Passive: 12-57V between 4/5 and 7/8 or 12-57V between 1/2 and 3/6. Polarity independent
Refer to this for information regarding network setup.

Sub-GHz Radio

The sub-GHz radio and built-in antenna facilitate communication between the gateway and Sensor Seal S1 equipped rollers or between two gateways. The radio parameters are remotely configurable.
Feature/Parameter Description
Operational frequency 150 MHz to 960 MHz, covering 433 MHz, 868 MHz and 915 MHz ISM bands
Transmit power -11 dBm to +14 dBm
Modulation GFSK, LoRa
Bandwidth < 250 kHz GFSK, < 500 kHz LoRa

Enclosure

The gateway is housed in a 201mm L x 121mm W x 55mm H NEMA 4X, IP65 rated, UV-stable polycarbonate enclosure. A Nylon (polyamide) NEMA 4X cable gland is typically installed on the bottom left of the enclosure. The drawing and details of the enclosure can be viewed here.
The gateway should be mounted high up, with a view of as many Sensor Seals as possible (when operating without a mesh network). It should not be mounted in a metal enclosure. For best performance, the upper third region of the gateway should be kept clear of any metal obstruction.
